Cemix is a building materials brand of the Lasselsberger Group, a European family-owned group whose plants and sales offices cover Central and Eastern Europe and reach into Central Asia. Under the Cemix ProWhite name the company supplies ultra-pure white cement to industrial customers in a dozen countries.
Cemix became our client in the years when the studio worked in Europe, before the move to Canada, and kept coming back. It started with a brief that pointed at itself: a gift for partners and distributors, made out of the product Cemix produces.
The shape came from the trucks that deliver Cemix cement every day. We modeled the tanker in 3D from scratch, agreed the proportions with the client, and cut a slot along the tank sized for a stack of business cards. A card holder that sits on a partner's desk in plain sight, with the brand on the side of the tank.
From the approved model we built production molds, cast a sample for sign-off, and went into the first run.
Every truck was cast in concrete mixed on Cemix ProWhite, the same white cement the company supplies to its customers. The client's product became the gift itself: partners were handed an object made of the material they buy.
The ProWhite logo is laser engraved on both sides of the tank. On our recommendation the client added a cork base under every truck: cork protects the desk surface from scratches and gives the cast concrete a clean, finished stand, the kind of detail a corporate gift is judged by. Across two runs, 80 trucks left the studio.
At the client's request every truck was packed as a present: an individual kraft gift box, tissue paper, paper filler, lid closed. What arrived at three regional offices was a batch of ready-to-give branded corporate gifts, and the only thing left for the Cemix team was to hand them out.
Cemix came back for more trucks, then added desk organizers to the program: more than 100 organizers with cork detailing and double-sided engraving, packed as gifts and delivered to three regional offices.
